According to Foxconn International Holdings India Developer Private Limited, it has submitted a proposal of expansion of the existing special economic zone in Sriperumbudur SIPCOT industrial park.
Foxconn, the world’s largest electronics manufacturer, is expanding its facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, with an investment of Rs 1,792 crore.
The expansion will add 20,000 jobs and increase the construction area to 4.79 lakh square feet.
This move is part of Foxconn’s plans to broaden its manufacturing capabilities in India beyond just assembling Apple smartphones.
The company is considering starting iPad assembly at its Sriperumbudur facility, which could potentially reduce iPhone costs and make them more competitive in the Indian market.
Maidanam or stadium:
On 13 acres of land, a maidanam or stadium would be constructed and it could accommodate 25000 people. This stadium would have all kinds of sports like tennis, basketball, volleyball etc.
It is mentioned that the Nandavanam Heritage Park would be designed in such a way to provide the visitors with access to the waterfront through walkways, waterways and cycled paths etc. At the waterfront, boat rides and a kid zone would be available.
In addition, themed sculptures, small shops, open air cinemas, cultural huts, food courts etc would also be set up. It is now said that the upcoming Nandavanam heritage park would become another tourist attraction along the ECR. Superb!!
